Anne Kobayashi is a Toronto-based artist, working primarily in ceramics. With a background in installation art, she treats clay as an open and experimental medium, allowing ideas to move freely between materials and disciplines. Rather than being guided by what ceramics is expected to be, she is interested in what the material might become.

Her process is an exploration of what happens when control meets chance. She is drawn to the way glazes flow into one another, bleeding, merging, and competing, with one colour often dominating as another yields. In the firing, these intersecting movements are frozen in time, preserving a fleeting state of transition. Her work inhabits these threshold spaces.
